From the publisher

Who is Jesus, and how can I become more like him? These questions echo through the ages and lie at the heart of the Christian life. The Gospel of Matthew offers a compelling answer, presenting Jesus as King, Teacher, and Messiah, and showing what it looks like to live faithfully in response to his call.

In this volume of the New Testament Theology series, scholar and pastor Jonathan Pennington explores the key theology and themes of Matthew to help readers gain a clearer understanding of both Scripture and Jesus. Whether you're a pastor, student, or thoughtful believer, this book will deepen your grasp of Christ and inspire a life that reflects his character.

What reviewers are saying

"A concise yet sophisticated introduction to the person of Jesus the Christ and the nature of discipleship according to the Gospel of Matthew… an excellent book for all who want to hear the distinct message of Matthew."

— Dan Doriani, Professor of Biblical and Systematic Theology, Covenant Theological Seminary

"Jonathan Pennington serves as a skilled and trustworthy guide through the rich gallery of Matthew's Gospel… To see Jesus clearly, Matthew insists, is to be drawn into the way of Jesus. Pennington helps readers do just that."

— Patrick Schreiner, Associate Professor of New Testament, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

"A splendid addition to a distinguished series, this book deserves a wide readership among students, pastors, and scholars looking for a concise, profound, and at points prophetic analysis of this Gospel."

— Robert W. Yarbrough, Professor of New Testament, Covenant Theological Seminary
